Wednesday, 16th December – Ladies’ Christmas Fun Competition

Wednesday saw an incredible 32 intrepid ladies play in the Christmas Waltz. They proved once again that Olton Girls Can as they braved the rain, cold and mud to battle their way around 9 holes and thank goodness it was only nine holes, not 14 nor 18!

Unfortunately, we could not have our traditional Christmas lunch but instead at the Half way house we were greeted by our Snowman or Snowlady President Jeannie, and Santa Debbie who served us with succulent turkey rolls that had been expertly prepared by Will and Jana. It was the thought of those rolls that kept us going!  We began the morning with Christmas music and viewed the decorations and left clutching a goodie bag! What a day to remember.

Now to the winners ……. That’s easy – the winners were all those ladies who took part and helped to make this such a memorable competition.

In second place was the team of Mary O’Neil, Sylvia Walker and Claire Beardmore with 33 points.

And in first place with an incredible score of 37 points were Susan Mckenna, Faith Walker and Ray Davies. Congratulations to you all and especially to Faith as this was her first ever Christmas competition!

Chick Trot 2020

On a damp and dreary Sunday morning in early December , 28 hardy ladies gamely turned out to play in our annual Chick Trot. Unfortunately any post golf celebrations had to be cancelled and put on hold until next year .
In extremely difficult conditions, both underfoot and weather wise , there were some very good scores.
In first place with 36 points, our worthy winners were Maggie King and Alison Isaacs followed just behind in 2nd place with 35 points, with a better back 9 , Wendy McIntyre and Helen Baker .
Many thanks to all those that took part and for all those inventive Christmas outfits and everyone’s looking forward to next year’s competition
