Update from Lady Captain

Good Afternoon Ladies
Winners winners – there have been quite a few winners of external competitions last month. They are all listed on my noticeboard and I’ve also mentioned them in this month’s newsletter so won’t repeat them here but well done to them all.
Our 3 Ball Alliance & Mixed Open events were both very successful with full fields for both. Many thanks to Wendy, Jeannie and Mary & Val O’Neil the organisers and to all their helpers for their hard work. The Junior Open was on 26th July and many thanks to Bev and Jane for organising and running the event.
Events coming up are the ADA Trip on 28th August – sorry I can’t make it this year but I’ve no doubt a good time will be had by all as is usual; my Charity Am Am on 31st August (the list is up on my board for ladies willing to make cakes for the Half Way House – many thanks in advance); the Team Championships on 5th September at Shirley - support for the team on the day is always welcome; the Saturday Pairs Open on 10th September (raffle prizes welcome please leave in box in locker room) and the Centenary Slaver on 11th September – the sign up list is on the Mixed Noticeboard
It would be helpful if you could sign up early for any events and also our own ladies competitions. This is a great help to the organisers and it avoids cancellation of events if we know that there is still support for them. We seem to have had a few events cancelled this year – Family 4s, Olton Trophy, Collinge Putter – which is a shame.
We have now finished all our League Matches. We came second with 31/2 points losing out to Ladbrook on 4 points – so close – let’s see if we can pip them to the post next year when we have the advantage of a home match!
This year’s Warks AGM is on 9th November. For those wishing to attend please note the change of venue this year. It will now be held at Shirley GC at 10.30am and the Bronze Division Team Competition Trophy will be presented to the winners who were from – guess where – Olton! so it would be nice to see some of our members there.
Jane Hicks is currently updating our Address Book – please let her have details of any changes. Jane is also working very hard this year on keeping our website  up to date. If you have anything you think needs going on our section of the website please let Jane have the details.
I’m sure you’ll all join with me in welcoming Tess Turner and Penny Silman back to OGC – great to see them out on the course again!
We send our get well wishes to Margaret Huyton, Chris Mosley & Jessie Tickell and hope to see you all back at the club soon.
On a happy note we have a “big O” birthday coming up on 15th August for Pat Hack and even more imminent is a wedding! Jamie (Pro Shop) is tying the knot this coming Friday – many congrats to him and his future bride. The Ladies Section have a card and gift voucher for them but if you would like to contribute individually them please place in a brown envelope and put in locker room box (sooner rather than later as the nuptials take place on Friday!)
That’s all for now
