Joe becomes Midland Open Champion
Joe becomes Midland Open Champion.
After the disappointment of missing the cut at the Welsh Open Joe bounced back brilliantly to take the Midland Open Amateur strokeplay championship. His four round total of 279 three under par took the title by 4 shots. The Championship began with all players playing a round at both Northants County and Northampton Golf Club with 40 players advancing to play the last two rounds at Northants County. Joe started with a level par 70 at NC and followed this with a brilliant 5 under par 67 at N. Giving him a 2 shot lead to take into the final 2 rounds at NC. The putter went cold in the third round resulting in a 3 over 73 leaving Joe a shot behind playing partner Leon Leaney of Woodhall Spa but a very solid 1 under 69 gave Joe the title.
