Birkett Barker Trophy
The first major of the season was started in welcome sunshine that illuminated the splendour of our course and what contestants would enjoy over 36 holes. Needless to say the course was immaculate, the greens were over 11 on the stimp, and the holes were as challenging as ever.
It was the course that won the day as few players were under handicap for either round. In third place was Liam Phipps with a 75-66-141 which took his handiacp to +0.4. In close third place was James Heatherington, 71-69-140 who was blow for blow competing for the title with the eventual winner George Parker who had a 66 in the morning followed by a 72 in the afternoon and winning with 138. Well done George a great day!
Many of you missed out on the challenge of a 36 hole competition which turned out to be a memorable one on the day of the cup final! Don't forget to put your name down for the Birkett Barker Shield, 25th July.

Congratulations. A great start to the season.
On Tuesday 5th May Immediate Past Captain, John Jarvie, had pleasure in presenting Janet Down of Solihull Life Opportunities (SoLo) with a cheque for £4,500, representing the monies collected for his charity over the last twelve months.
Janet then said a few words about SoLo, which is an organisation which provides much needed leisure activities for those living in Solihull who have learning difficulties.
The Family Foursomes competition was held on Bank Holiday Monday with the sun shining and the course in splendid condition. The strong field of pairings included many expectant past winners but it was Lalit & Dhiren Patel who won the day. Second place was Diane & Barry Corless with David & Laura Widell in third.
The golf was followed by a presentation dinner and thanks go to our Lady Captain, Del Lakin-Hall for organisaing the event.
