Phipps on Fire!!

Liam Phipps has just achieved the biggest win of his career!

The Lagonda Trophy is one of the most prestigeous amateur tournaments on the circuit.

Liam beat an impressive field in this 72 hole tournament with a fantastic score of 272 (8 under par) and this sees his handicap at a highly impressive +5!!

Past winners include Lee Westwood, Luke Donald, Andy Sullivan & Peter McEvoy

With his win the week before - finishing top qualifier in the Brabazon Tropy...... Liam is certainly 'on a roll'

Who knows what the rest of the season has in store for him?

Well done that man and we look forward to celebrating more success!

Liam Phipps - No 1 in a prestigious field

Liam Phipps produced a stunning performance to win the Southern qualifier, for one of the biggest championships in Amateur Golf.

We wish him well in the Championship itself.

The Brabazon Qualifier is a stroke play competition played over 18 holes, for a place in the English Men's Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship, which will take place at The Alwoodley Golf Club, 30 May - 2 June.

There are two regional qualifiers each year to cover the north and south of England.

Warwickshire Amateur Championship held at Ladbroke Park Thursday 16th May

I am delighted to advise Members that:

1) Joe Macilwraith won this event with a score of 142 (70/72) level par and is now Warwickshire Union Men’s Amateur Champion

2) Joe Macilwraith (1st/142), Liam Phipps (4th / 147) and Mike Pell (11th / 150) won the Team event and are now Warwickshire Union Men’s Team Amateur Champions

A spectacular performance all round.  I’m sure the Club will join me in congratulating all three on achieving such a fabulous double.
