Welcome from the Lady Captain
As Lady Captain it is my pleasure to welcome you to Olton Golf Club where you will be assured a warm and friendly reception from our ladies
Ladies have a long history of being part of Olton Golf Club. The original eight lady members soon rose to twenty five lady members. Even with this small numbers they were still able to form their own competitions as well as playing in some mixed foursomes. In 1895 the Olton Ladies Section was formally inaugurated into the club. The first official competition for the Olton Ladies was the Captain’s Prize for medal play offered by the men’s Captain Mr W F Hayden.
The Olton ladies were among the very first to play female golf in the midlands.
We have a active ladies section with a range of handicaps, most of who play regularly in competitions both on a Wednesday which is our main ladies day. For those ladies unable to play on a Wednesday, Sunday is the other official alternate day.
We have a scratch team and a league team who won the league in 2017.
Our club team encourages all our ladies, regardless of handicaps to participate in other friendly team matches.
Our 9 hole league is also very popular for those ladies who still like to play in a competitive but friendly match after work.
A number of our ladies also play for the county 2nd team
