Bruce Wilson took his tour party this year to Yorkshire, "God's Own Country", on Monday 13th July in the pouring rain. The party first of all visited Moortown GC, where the weather was particularly bad, but the Club's professional was exceptionally good, and the course itself was well prepared. The group booked into the hotel that night, despite Neil Brenton/Tony Sumpter insisting on changing rooms because of a lack of ventilation, and they all enjoyed a splendid meal.
The next day, the party played at Otley GC, and were struck by the presentation of the course. Although wet in Solihull, the Tour party enjoyed a very good days golfing, and the eventual winner was gradually emerging.
On the last day, the Party played Ilkley GC, and again were surprised and delighted by the presenttation of the course. The weather was again good, and the winner finally emerged, as Arthur Huke once again took the Molesworth Trophy. The presentation was made by John Molesworth - and there is a picture of the event on the Senior Gallery.
Bruce Wilson had achieved a life long ambition, and there was fulsome praise for the way he had led the Tour Party. There is now a quest to decide the venue for next year, - it looks as though the West country is ahead at the moment - a journey the owner of the Trophy will not wish to make, squashed in a car, already full of Bruce and John Arnold!
