ON a blustery summer day a strong field of Oltons' competitive golfers took the challenge of this notoriuos 36 hole challenge. The morning round proved to be tough with no player beating handicap. The CSS was 72 and even when the the afternoon brightened up only a small number of players came in with red figures with the course playing a CSS of 70.
However, there were a number of players who improved on their morning round but the Honour of the Birkett Barker Shield went to Barney Dowding with nett 72-68-138, losing on a round 2 countback, Ben Wiggins came second with nett 70-68-138 and James Hetherington third, 72-67-139.
The accumulative winner over the Birkett Barker Trophy 36 holes and Birkett Barker Shield 36 holes, the Honour of the Presidents Salver went to James Hetherington with nett scores of 140-139 total 279 over 72 holes. Joint second was George Parker and Ben Wiggins on 281.
Another great day and a superb performance by all competitors.
