Sadly the last match of the season away to Fulford Heath did not pass without a Captain's faux pas (I had hoped to make it to the end of the season without one!)
It appears I got two sign up sheets mixed up when emailing the team players resulting with 13 turning up for a twelve man team - still always good to have a reserve on hand eh? My thanks to Colin MacMillan who, though not actually on the team, turned up to play, waited while our hosts worked out if they had enough players too, then graciously returned to the bosom of his family - a bottle of red has your name on it CJ.
Despite the forecasted four o'clock showers arriving nearer two o'clock we had a good, amiable match against a Fulford team led by the inimitable Gabriel Quinn who played his last match as their B Team Captain after 3 years at the helm.
The match was followed by a substantial carvery, thank goodness the plates weren't any bigger!
We lost the match 3 1/2 to 2 1/2, the individual scores as follows :
Peter Harrison and Nigel Hinman won 6/5, Derek Birt and Jim Wild won 4/2. Ian Sparkes and Peter Millane halved while Steve Cottier and Harry Kenth lost 4/3 and Ian Phipps and Keith Scott lost on the final green by 1.
My sincere thanks to everyone who has played for the B Team this year and look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the B Team dinner on 16th November.
Training for next season will start in the New Year !!
