Wednesday 23rd August saw 29 bold heroes battle it out for the re arranged B team Medal and F L NOCK Trophy.
As usual I had arranged for good weather while we played the course which is in excellent condition.
Unfortunately there were nine - yes NINE - players who had failed to understand that this was to be my year to win and who all managed to beat my score of 75. I will be passing their names on to next year's B Team Captain for suitable punishment. (At least I got a 2! As did Godfrey Frith,Graham Hoskin and Andy Watkinson).
For quite a while Paul Higgins was the leader in the clubhouse on a net 70 until late on in the day when firstly Andy Watkinson sneaked in with a 69 only to be usurped himself by David Nicholas coming in with a 67 tying with Bhinder Jheeta who pipped him on the back nine.
But all of this was to no avail as I am extremely pleased to announce that our ex B Team Captain Gerry Donohoe , a stalwart and great supporter of the B Team, triumphed with a net 66.
A great round Gerry, a fine reward for your services to the B Team over the years and your name will now be held in perpetuity on the board in the clubhouse!
We all enjoyed a splendid carve at the table meal in the evening, my thanks to the caterers who did us proud.
We have five more matches to go, teams have been selected for the next three but we still need more players for home matches against Fulford (20th Sep) and Robin Hood (4th Oct) , the lists are on the board so please sign up if you can.
