Welcome From Our Lady Captain

As Lady Captain of Olton Golf Club, it would be my pleasure to welcome you to our Club as, a golfer, a beginner, for competitions and social events or, as a new member.

At Olton the ladies play a very active role within the Club, playing weekdays and weekends, taking part in local, county and national competitions as well as mixed matches with and against our gentlemen members. Our ladies also enjoy group lessons with our Professional, Charles Haynes.

 As a ladies section we have our own committee and run our own competitions throughout the year, culminating in our Annual Dinner and Prize Giving when trophies are awarded to winners of all handicaps. Our ladies also have representation on general, house, social and handicap committees.

We have a thriving social programme within the Club with quiz nights, themed evenings and a variety of dining opportunities.

If you are interested in finding out more about us, then please contact our Club’s Honorary Secretary.

I look forward to meeting you at Olton Golf Club.

Ray Davies

New Members Welcome

One of our new members recently commented;

As a comparatively new member to Olton Golf Club I look back on my decision to move from my previous club as one of the best decisions I have ever made.

The ladies have welcomed me with friendship and generosity by that I mean, as a working lady I can play with other ladies on Sunday morning and play my medal or stableford. If I can have a day off in the week then I can play with the Wednesday ladies, there is no searching for partners as I can put my name in the box 2 weeks before and play with someone, so I meet new people. There are mixed matches on Sundays during the summer and generally there is a man who wants a partner these matches are both home and away. There are also internal mixed ko’s as well as some competitions on Bank holiday’s. Socially there are various events from quizzes in the winter, bridge in the afternoons with tuition, tapas nights and various meals as well as Tuesday night draw night(where you can win Big money) and Friday night Dining.

I ask myself, why didn’t  I move sooner ?

Many of our lady members have come through the Provisional Membership Scheme where you can 'try before you buy' over a 3 month period. This is an excellent introduction to the club, it's members and to our fabulous course. You can join in all of the activities as a provisional member and you can also get an indicative handicap after submitting playing cards. The section offers a 'buddy' scheme where a new member is supported by an existing member and offered help and guidance to ensure you get the best out of your experience. It's a great way of integrating with all areas of the club!

There is also a 'taster' Golf Academy on a Tuesday where our resident professional takes group lessons for new starters and developing golfers alike. Prospective members are welcome.

Call the office today and ask about  joining the Ladies Section. You will be offered an information pack as well as a peronsal introduction to our facilities.
