The Final of the above Competition, which was played out between Richard Blasdale & Tony Beer and Dick Birkin & Richard Lea, was a tight affair. Blasdale and Beer were behind by 4 holes after the 8th, but gradually overhauled the opposition over the next few holes. At the 17th, Birkin and Lea were by now 1 hole up, and with a tie at the 18th, Dick Birkin and Richard Lea were declared the Winners.
Richard Blasdale conceded that the ultimate winners played better than they had, coming in and out more often, and the match was really decided by who putted better on the most critical putts. He also said that they missed several 3 - 4 footers which they should have got!
It has been a long gruelling slog this winter, with a lot of rain, and the cold was, at times, excessive, although there has been only a glimpse of snow. The matches were all played in good spirit, and the best pairing obviously won.
