On a lovely day, the hottest this year so far, but after some heavy weather the previous day, there was almost a doubt that the Texas Scramble would even take place. However, the course dried out, and the Seniors had a great day, and the sun was appreciated by all. John Molesworth was the promoter, and he did a first class job in getting all the players off, and more importantly, collected all the money.
11 teams took the field, and all 33 players actually returned, when Vice Captain, Terry Hanley, was invited to take the stage to invite the winners forward. In the event, it turned out that Vice Capt, Terry Hanley, was the winner, with his team of Peter Harrison and Neil Brenton, who scored 64
In second place was Mike Baker, David Burke and Richard Lea with 66 and in third place was Ian Major, Harry Orme and Graham Pillage with 66.7.
In the absence of Captain Brian Warren, (who, as usual, was dodging all the traffic on the M42, and keeping his eyes open for any lurking Police Officers), Neil Brenton thanked John Molesworth for the solo effort he had put in, to make the event a success, - and even Harry O said he had had a great time!
