On yet another bright and sunny morning, some 32 golfers set out to test the course, as the older, wiser and more senior are required to do. As ever, they found the course in wonderful condition, as was the Lunch afterwards, and all duly sponsored by Sheila Hudson and Margaret Huyton. Mark Hopton welcomed the newcomers, Kate Wild, John O'Sullivan, Terry Hanley and David Playdon, and reminded us all about those we had lost - Lynn Harris and Geoff Ward.
The sponsors had arranged a Texas Scramble, and Mark duly delivered, and the eventual winners were a strong team of Sheila Hudson, Norma Young, David Playdon and Frank Lambert.
In the 9 Hole competition, Val Duncombe, Jill French, John Mackay and Mike Padmore were one better than those who came behind.
Frank Lambert spoke well, congratulating the Course, the food, the service, and most particularly, Mark, who had run the affair with all his usual panache.
