Charity Coffee Morning - 8th April
Help for Heroes were aided by the Coffee Morning held in the Heaton Lounge. The event was very well supported by members and their friends who enjoyed buying from the following stalls:
Plants - run by Barbara Malins; Cakes - run by Jayne Maxwell, Sheila Hudson & Margaret Lambert
CD/DVDs - run by Pat Bates & Pat Hack; Make me an Offer - run by Cynthia Parker & Karen Hearn
The raffle was organised by Jeannie Morrison assisted by Rachel & Francesca Pattinson. Coffee and biscuits were provided by Emma and her team.
The wonderful sum of £665.75 was raised. This is thanks to the organisers, the providers and all those who came on the day and spent so freely. Thank you everyone who played their part in ensuring our efforts for Help the Heroes continues.
Also, may I thank David Carter who on Grand National Day raised £95. This together with the £280 he raised at the Half Way House has been a wonderful addition to our charity funds. Thank you David - more power to your elbow!

Olton Ladies Knocked Out of Mail Golf Competitions
As of 13th March OGC Ladies are now out of both the Mail on Sunday Team event and the Daily Mail Foursomes event.
Mail on Sunday Team Competition - A team of five - Jane Barker, Karen Hearn, Jan Innes, Anne Turner and Del Lakin-Hall travelled to play at Halesowen. The weather was kind being much warmer than the previous two days but the course was not!! None of the team had played at Halesowen before and when asked afterwards if they had "enjoyed" the course the combined response was "well it's very challenging!" All played their hearts out but it was a trashing of 5-0 to Halesowen unfortunately.
Daily Mail Foursomes - on a slightly more positive note - Bev Belcher and Lara Bates played their Foursomes match against The Forest on Saturday, 8th March. They struggled round a very soggy course in poor weather and managed to take their opponents to the 20th hole before losing - bad luck but well played girls!
In Aid Of "Help For Heroes"
In spite of the snow leading up to Thursday 14th February, the Charity Bridge Drive was a great success. This was due to so many ladies volunteering their time. Particular thanks must be given to Emma who provided a fabulous tea and Sylvia Walker who, with the help of Heather Miller, organised this part of the event. Thanks too are due to the twenty or so ladies who helped on the day to keep the whole event running smoothly.
On the day we raised £830.77. This together with the £508 raised by the Men's Bottle Draw gives us a grand total of £1338.77.
Well done everyone, we have had a good start to our fund raising for the year - Liz Pattinson, Lady President.
OGC Ladies Win Against Shirley
A team of 5 Olton Ladies took on Shirley Ladies on Friday, 8th February in the first round of the "Mail on Sunday Classic" knock out team event. Although having the advantage of a home draw conditions, at this time of year, are not easy for anyone! However, the Olton Ladies came out on top winning 3 1/2 - 1 1/2. Well done the team - Bev Belcher, Anne Turner, Karen Hearn, Liz Jarvie and Del Lakin-Hall.
We now eagerly await our 2nd round opponents! Keep your eyes open for further updates on our progress!
