The 31st August dawned sunny and warm which was a great relief to Ray and I as with everything organised for my Charity Am Am we just needed the weather to behave!
The day ran smoothly and I’ve received many compliments from both members and visitors all saying how much they enjoyed the occasion.
The course was in wonderful condition – all be it the greens were rather quick! but players enjoyed a welcome break at the Half Way House manned by the ever smiling Pat Lighting. Emma Chris & their team served up a fantastic buffet and needless to say the bar staff made sure no-one’s glass was empty for too long!
The Prize Giving and Raffle Draw was full of banter (helped by a generous consumption of alcohol I think!) with Steve Nines and his team coming in as winners of the 1st Prize – the second year on the trot! - a Four Ball at Stoke Park. Do we ban them next year??
My thanks go to Bev Belcher for helping with Registration, to the ladies who made the cakes for the Half Way House and to Claire Beardmore who did they flowers for the tables and donated them. I must give a big “thank you” to all the clubs and individuals who donated the winners prizes and also prizes for the raffle and to Ray who helped me not only on the day but in the months of planning beforehand.
My biggest “thank you” goes to all those who played and gave so generously helping to raise £2833.15 for my charity the RNIB Pears Centre in Coventry. Many of you play in this event every year – thank you for your support and I hope to see you all again next year – I’ll be relaxing and playing then!!
