The Hodson Shield is the Senior Individual Knockout Trophy, played over 6 rounds, normally, and is always hard fought. The rules say that play is off the White tees, full handicap, and full handicap difference between contestants. Two of the strongest contestants, Terry Smith, Club President and winner of the inaugural Olton Senior's Open, and Arthur Huke, a previous winner of the Trophy and a semi-finalist in several current Club Competitions, had won through to the final, and both expected a tough game, - and so it proved. President Terry, with some four shots up his sleeve, triumphed 3 & 2, and conceded that it had been very close right to the end.
Well done, Terry, and bad luck to Arthur, - both worthy Senior finalists. Kit Morton
