At the end of a dull and unprepossessing morning, which was eventually concluded at Lunchtime with a downpour of huge magnitude, which, fortunately, almost all the players managed to miss. In the event, there was no reason to replay the event, for spoilt greens etc. and Bruce Wilson was proclaimed the winner, having scored a magnificent 21 points, just one point ahead of the person in second place, his playing partner, Graham Hoskin (20). Jim Wild was third with 18 points.
The Cecil Bayliss Trophy has been running for a long time as a 9 hole event, for the over 70's. It has been overtaken now by the Les Holmes Trophy, which is played over 18 holes, also by the over 70 fraternity. This is the first time that Bruce Wilson has been the winner, but not the last!
